5 Sunkissed Hair Looks For Undone Summer Styling
We’ll say it once, and we’ll say it again: you don’t actually need the sun to shine for your hair to look sunkissed. Beachy hair is a year-round affair at Hershesons, whether it’s tousled waves or a luminous colour, so when summer comes around – even if you’re stuck in the rainy UK – you can still live the sunshine life via your locks.
One of the best ways to help hair glow is with babylights. A colour technique which involves fine ribbons of colour woven through the hair subtly, they add dimension, light and a natural look to all hair types.
Another popular technique is balayage, where the ends of the hair are subtly lightened and graduated into the rest of the colour – this look has been incredibly popular for many years, but the modern update is to ensure it is barely noticeable. The balayage of today looks naturally lightened by the sun, rather than overtly done - see Sienna Miller as an excellent example.
Money pieces – where the hair is lightened just around the face – are another great look to try. Many colourists will naturally enhance this area of the hairline because it helps the skin to glow at every age, while also making the hair look like it’s picked up the sun’s rays.
If you’re dark haired and don’t want to mess with a lot of lighter colour, ask your colourist to add dimension and depth with some rich caramel tones, or ask for a gloss to enrich your current colour – there’s nothing quite like a little oomph to help hair look healthier and summer-ready.
