PSA: It’s Normal For Your Hair To Shed In Autumn
Recently, you might have noticed that your hair is falling out more than normal. If you’re not someone who suffers from more serious alopecia, which refers to either temporary or permanent hair loss and can vary in severity, then this slight increase in hair fall is nothing to worry about. In fact, it’s quite normal as the seasons change.

Between September and November, we’re more likely to experience more hair falling out, and it’s nothing to panic about. While there is no real scientific research that can explain why our hair falls out as we move into autumn, but some theories suggest that it might be to do with the decrease in our exposure to light, which in turn can change our hormones and impact the hair growth cycle. Many of us also experience more hair growth in the summer months thanks to the sun, and subsequently shed more hair when we come to autumn.

Whatever causes it, there are ways to help limit it. The first is by treating your hair with nourishing weekly masks and protecting it whenever you heat style – try our Almost Everything Cream for daily hydration. Eating a healthy, balanced diet, full of protein, vegetables and fruit can also help, as can a good haircut to help keep hair in good nick from the ends, upwards.

If your hair shedding continues past this timeframe, then make sure you see a GP or specialist to investigate further.
