Q&A WITH LUKE HERSHESON
Why did you decide to bring Hair Apothecary to the UAE?
I think there’s a real desire for great hair here – everyone respects the heritage of brands and is after the best products, but I feel there was a real gap in the market for this. This means that there’s lots of potential and I’m really excited about it.
Can you tell us a bit more about your products?
The whole concept is about creating a hair wardrobe that offers anything and everything to create that real cool-girl hair. Whether it’s an electrical item, a brush or a hairpiece, we offer the right concoction of products to get current hair. I think people look at magazines and don’t realise that half the hair isn’t real – the whole premise was to open up all the tricks that we use and let everyone in on the secrets.
And how easy are they to use?
Super-easy! The premise of the clip-ins is that if you can’t put them in within a minute then you’re doing something wrong.
Blow-dry bars are really gaining popularity in the Middle East. Do you have any plans to open a Hershesons Blow Dry Bar here?
We’re definitely thinking about it but it would have to be with the right partner – I’ve just not found the right moment yet. We are completely open to it, but it’s all about timing.
Which celebrity have you most enjoyed styling?
I’ve worked with Sienna Miller for years – I cut her hair short just before Christmas. She’s very easy-going and just gets it. I work with Keira a lot too, who is completely different but she’s amazing and very down-to-earth!
And who would you love to work with?
I’d love to work with Julianne Moore – I think she always looks amazing at any occasion.
And who always gets it right on the red carpet?
I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but Kim Kardashian’s hair always looks great! As does Gisele’s and Alexa’s, of course.
