Less-is-more hair
There was a new haircut trend every week in 2023, but this year we’re adopting a more simplistic approach to our hair. Think clean, minimal and expensive-looking, but not fussy. “It’s the quiet luxury version of hair,” says Luke. “Less-is-more, simple and it’s all about healthy condition and elevating fresh skin.” There is devil in the detail – even if it is subtle. “It’s all about a tuck of the hair behind the ears, a centre parting or just really clean textures,” adds Luke.
’70s sweep
There’s a new way to wear your curtain bangs – even if they are growing out – and it takes its inspo from the 1970s. “You blow it out as if you would a proper old-school blow dry – with a round brush and the Great Hairdryer – and create lots of root lift, and then you brush it out with a wide-tooth comb so you get this ’70s sweep,” says Luke. “A bit like a young Brooke Shields.” With a brushed-out front like this, you get lots of face-framing but with a cool ’70s vibe – the perfect partner to a shirt and rollneck.
The midi-cut
Cast your mind back to Elizabeth Hurley, Christy Turlington and Kate Moss in the late ’90s and early Noughties and you might remember their midi-cuts. Simple, mid-length styles that fall just below the shoulders, they’re the perfect style to flip to the side or wear as is – and a great example of the less-is-more movement this year.
Chunky bobs
The bob – especially the chunky version – isn’t going anywhere this year. While some of us are growing ours out right now (cue the midi-cut), bobs that feature chunky ends and a lived-in flick, with lots of volume and movement, are trending.
