THE FASTEST WAYS TO FIGHT FRIZZ
How to beat frizz is one of those questions that never gets old. You want smooth, shiny, fuzz-free hair without bits that kink or stick out in strange directions. Instead, you find yourself constantly battling frizz, which appears at the merest change in the weather.
We asked our stylists to give us their top tips on stopping frizz in its tracks…
What causes frizz?
Frizz can be defined as "hair that does not align with the surrounding hairs but stands up or curls independently, creating a fuzzy or irregular texture." It's this irregularity – usually on the uppermost hairs – that sits awkwardly, despite our best efforts to bring it under control.
Frizz is most often caused by exposure to any kind of water or humidity. Right about now, as the seasons start to change, is prime time for a whole lot of fuzz. Don't get us wrong: a little easy, natural texture is something we actively support. But we also know there’s confidence to be gained from feeling in control of your hair, so let’s put the power back in your hands.
How to prevent frizzy hair
We all know that prevention is better than cure. Run two pumps of anti-frizz Almost Everything Cream through wet hair after your morning shower. It creates a protective barrier that seals off moisture to stop frizz from forming at all.
Rake – don’t brush
If you skipped the above tip and your dry hair is already a frizzy mess, resist the urge to brush – it'll only make things worse. Instead, use your fingers to rake through your hair, creating tension as you do so, to help smooth the cuticle again.
Style your hair to beat frizz
Styling frizzy hair brings in an element of damage limitation. Use your hands to smooth your hair straight back or create a centre parting, then tie it in a high or low bun. Not only will you reign that frizz in so it’s a whole lot less unruly, but you’ll also minimise the surface area of hair exposed to moisture – so prevent more frizz forming while you’re out and about.
Tame frizzy hair overnight
If your hair has spent all day in the drizzle, you don't necessarily have to start all over again by washing it at night. Simply smooth a pump or two of Almost Everything Cream into your dry, frizzy hair – then blow dry it as above. Leave it loose, so it's smooth come morning; twist it into a bun to create effortless beachy waves.
Consider a permanent blow dry
The Hershesons Permanent Blow Dry has become something of a legend among beauty editors and influencers for good reason. Our next-generation formula works by reacting with the amino acids in your hair, then forms new bonds that keep it straight for up to three months. Fans say that their hair feels smooth, shiny and child-like – as if it has been 'reborn'. What better way to cruise into autumn, and increase your snooze time – than by waking up to perfectly smooth hair each day?
