If 2024 was all about blonde, then 2025 has a lot more in store for us in the hair colour department.

From the blended grey look beloved by celebrities, to a trending tanned leather hue, our in-house experts share the shades they think will be big this year.

Raw chestnut

“This is a rich and glossy chestnut brown, with warm tones and a high-shine finish. It’s the perfect way for brunettes to add depth and shine, and ultimately elevate their colour.”

– Hannah Gayle at Hershesons Belgravia

Butter blonde

“A warm, pale buttery blonde that looks good all year round, this colour suits lots of different skin tones, including those with naturally darker hair. One way to create the look is with a base bump – where you lift the natural base colour a half to two shades lighter – and then add highlights on top. It transforms a mousy base into a soft golden hue, which combines perfectly with highlights or balayage.”

– James Samuel at Hershesons Belgravia

Blended grey

“Blended grey is going to be all the rage in 2025. Embracing and working with your natural grey, and adding soft creamy colours to enhance what’s naturally there, is super chic and low maintenance. Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Jessica Parker are already doing it.”

– Hannah Gayle

Tanned leather

“Tanned leather blonde is a trend that’s perfect for 2025. It combines elements of strawberry blonde with woody, rustic undertones, and emphasises dimension, depth and texture. My inspiration? A perfect tanned leather coat from Miu Miu.”

– Nicole Kahlani, Hershesons Fitzrovia

Caramel Blonde

“I’m all about softening blonde hair with freehand lowlights, toners and glosses. Gisele and Beyoncé are great references. Adding negative space is key to making hair look interesting and healthy – I like to do this with acidic, high-shine colour ranges.”

– John Alfred at Hershesons Fitzrovia
