6 Easy Ways To Protect Your Hair On Holiday
It’s time for vacay, but have you packed everything you need for healthy hair? We may be biased, but there is good reason to ensure you’re well stocked up with ways in which to protect, condition and nourish your hair while you spend time in the sun. The sun, sea, sand and chlorine can all wreak havoc on our hair, causing weak strands and breakage, as well as potentially changing hair colour. So, what can we do? Here are some key ways to ensure your hair remains healthy on holiday.
Have a haircut before you go
When you arrive with hair that’s in good condition, you’re less likely to succumb to any breakage.
Get your hair wet…
Before you take a dip in the pool. If chlorine is an issue, this means the hair shaft absorbs more water, and therefore has less room to take in any chlorine, which can discolour and damage the hair.
Protect it from the sun
By any means possible. As well as a good hair SPF – because, yes, they exist – make sure you’re physically blocking the sun by wearing a hat. This is the best way to ensure UV damage doesn’t impact your hair.
Wear a conditioning mask
Multitask and hit the beach with a moisturising hair mask that can help fortify each strand. Use it to slick your hair back (and some Almost Everything Cream, of course) and wear a cap over the top – chic and sun-safe.
Plaits are also a great idea
They help get hair out of your face, while preventing frizz and breakage, plus when you let them out… ready-made waves for golden hour.
Avoid heat styling
Since your hair is inevitably enduring a lot of heat during the day, try and avoid heat styling to ensure there’s no further damage. We love working with natural beachy texture – just spritz some Air Dry Spray to enhance what you already have.
